Hey! I’m Laurie.

I am an integrative nutrition health coach with a focus on balancing hormones and improving gut health in women.

My story:

At the age of 12, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), setting me on a path riddled with challenges. My face was marred by persistent acne, and I battled unrelenting gastrointestinal issues despite countless attempts at solutions. Medical professionals offered little hope, asserting that PCOS was untreatable, with the best option being birth control to alleviate symptoms like acne, ovarian cysts, and PMS. Embracing this advice, I believed relief was on the horizon, only to find disappointment as my struggles persisted unchanged. The acne endured, and my GI problems seemed to exacerbate.

As I transitioned to college, the situation worsened. The stress of academics and the influence of peer eating habits led me down an unhealthy path. Inevitably, I gained a lot of weight, my acne intensified, and I grappled with irritability, fatigue, and anxiety. Daily cravings for sugar and salt further complicated matters, sending my blood sugar on a roller coaster ride and earning me a reputation for sudden bouts of "hangry" behavior. I reluctantly accepted this fate, convinced there was no viable solution.

Then came 2020, and not much had changed. College was behind me, but my issues persisted. Discontinuing birth control turned out to be a pivotal decision, as it wasn't proving effective for me. Amidst the stress of career pursuits and forging a life of my own, I stumbled upon the IIN Nutrition School. These teachings revealed the remarkable capacity to tailor my health and lifestyle to my unique needs and through simple lifestyle changes. I uncovered previously unimagined aspects of health, sparking a gradual transformation in which my challenges began to dissolve. The excess weight vanished, my skin cleared, and the storm of irritability, anxiety, and fatigue gradually abated.

My journey isn't complete; there's still room for improvement. Yet, the strides I've made are undeniable. The pursuit of better health and wellness stands as life's grandest adventure, echoing Chuck Pagano's poignant words: "Without health, we have nothing."
